Creative Tie-backs

Over the christmas period, I visited a few craft fairs, which is always nice to do. These where purchased at the Mentmore craft fair, which didn't have much to it so I probably wouldn't go again.. but bought these little treasures there :) and what a bargain! The lady who owned the stall was moving to spain so had to sell everything. I needed some new curtain tie-backs, as mine are a bit dated..so I snapped these up for the bargain price of £3. Looking at them initially I thought I could do something with them.

De coupage is the most simply, effective way of transforming anything in your home and making it really look your own. All you need is:

Tissue paper/fancy tissues/anything thin with a pattern on
PVA Glue
Water
Scissors
White Acrylic paint
And patience

>>Firstly Paint the object you wish to cover in white.. so no strange colours seep though.

>>Mix up a mixture of PVA with 1Part PVA 2parts Water.

>>All you need to do now is cut the pattern of the shape you are covering with about 1cm overlay (to hide around the back) and strip the tissue so it is its thinnest layer, most tissue paper has 4 or 5 layers.

>>Once the paint is dry cover the object a bit at a time (watch out for tearing) with the PVA mixture adding it on top of the tissue too (this will dry clear) and keep going until it is all covered. Glue the excess areas to the back.

>>Then leave to dry and VWALA!!! :) you have some amazing curtain tie-backs (or necklace holders)

Happy New Year!

My yellow roses :)

Happy New Year
fellow Bloggers! I was a rubbish Blogger last year, but 2012 is full of fun and exciting things to blog about! I didn't have a great start to 2012 with a kidney infection but I received two bouquets of flowers and a teddy bear and I just keep thinking to myself..everything can only get better. My new year was spent watching the amazing fire works of London town (we do put on a good display) and then rolling on my side in pain! Ha.. But I thought I would come on and say a Happy New Year! and I hope 2012 brings you everything you wish for!

Busy Busy Bee.

I have missed blogging the past month! I have just been so busy working 12 hour shifts to get all the christmas displays out at work I just haven't had time. At least they have taken my mind off my recent break up with my boyfriend.. but that's a whole other story that I won't bore the world with.

I have also been busy with my own private projects which I will be adding to my Interior Design Portfolio. I have been applying for a few stylist jobs recently.. which would be absolutely perfect for me..It is just taking time pulling all my work together to make me stand out.

Thought I would post a few pics of recent projects and work projects I have been keeping myself busy with. Let me know any thoughts about my work :) will be very grateful!!

Bedroom Redesign*
I was approached by some family friends to re-design their spare room. Within the brief it had to match their country style but with no flowers. I chose mutual colours with a hint of gold. Theses are my first 2 designs.

Example Luminar Stage Set design*
Well known Uk Artist Example was booked to do a uk tour within all Luminar clubs. I was approached to design the stage set and what inflatables will be used. A similar set would be used for the Calvin Harris Tour too, this was taken into consideration and images will be available soon.

Metallic's Moodboard

Copyright VBDesigns

This is a selection of key pieces I have found based on the Metallic trend. Key metallic pieces can add extra glamour and a contemporary edge to any space. My favourite piece is the Heart tin candle holder from Urban outfitters. It would look perfect in any interior

Design Inspiration 1

Architect Gary Chang, based in the very busy city of Hong kong completely transformed his apartment into an eco friendly, 24 roomed home which is situated in a 344 sq.ft. apartment. He had so many people living in his apartment that he saw potential to change. The apartment is designed so walls can move and reveal separate rooms behind situated between 2 metre wide spaces. From a book case which will change into a wardrobe, transforming into a bath and then a bedroom area, it is the perfect functional space. To create a warm feel he has tinted the windows to make the room feel warm, so even rainy weather brightens his mood. With the use of mirrors on the ceiling, it dramatically increases the light value within the room. It is a truly amazing concept in the use of space, which I believe his design could potentially change the way we live.
